DENTAL BRIDGES
A dental bridge is a fixed replacement for one or more missing teeth. It rests on two or more healthy teeth—or sometimes on dental implants—to fill the gap. Usually, the healthy teeth next to the gap are prepared and covered with crowns, which hold the false teeth (called pontics) in place. A traditional bridge has at least three connected crowns: the crowns on the healthy teeth are called abutments, and the false tooth in the middle is the pontic.

Bridges help restore spaces where teeth are missing, whether between natural teeth or implants. They’re made from the same materials as single crowns and can be customized in shape and color so they look natural. With good care, bridges can last a long time and are one of the most common and reliable solutions for replacing missing teeth. Besides making your smile look great, bridges help keep your facial shape balanced and prevent your remaining teeth from shifting.

Getting a bridge is similar to getting a crown. Sometimes, if the supporting teeth are still alive, they may need treatment to avoid sensitivity before the bridge is placed. How long a bridge lasts depends on how healthy the supporting teeth or implants are. That’s why it’s really important to keep your mouth clean, especially around the gums and the false teeth, to make sure your bridge stays strong and healthy.
